At the International Agriculture Show, the innovation prize of the 2022-2023 Agroecology Trophies was awarded to a Reunionese farmer, Béatrice Duchemann-Donnay, operator in Sainte-Rose.
Reunion Island was honored during the awards ceremony for the 2022-2023 national Agroecology Trophies competition.. Farmer from Sainte-Rose, Béatrice Duchemann-Donnay received the innovation prize. Marc Fesneau, Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, himself presented this innovation prize to the Reunion Island operator. Béatrice Duchemann-Donnay received the regional prize on January 12 from the prefect of Reunion Island., Jerome Filippini, who had visited his farm for the occasion. Jérôme Filippini once again congratulated the winner and her companion “for their passion and their unfailing commitment to environmentally friendly agricultural practices., which protect an exceptional terroir”. Farmer since 2015, Béatrice Duchemann-Donnay produces vanilla under forest cover from certified organic lychees and palm kernels on a concession of 4,75 hectares allocated by the Coastal Conservatory. This choice of production in harmony with their family values led the couple to apply for the Agroecology Trophies. The regional jury gathered last December had retained his file with regard to his actions in favor of the environment, integrating the economic and social dimensions of agroecology.
