Despite a slowdown, the employed workforce in Réunion continued to increase in the second quarter of 2025, according to the General Social Security Fund (CGSS).
The increase is however limited to 185 net job creations in three months. 198,547 employees were counted on the island in the 2nd quarter. Accommodation and catering (+370 positions) and social action and health (+230 positions) are part of the growing sectors, unlike temporary employment and household services, who lose 240 and 200 positions respectively. The CGSS also measured the average salary in Reunion at 2,448 euros. (+0,2% over the quarter), significantly lower than the national average (3 046 €). In the field of collective procedures, the number of legal receiverships rose to 102 in the 2nd quarter (+10,9% in three months), that of backups at 10 (compared to 2 in the 1st quarter) while 194 judicial liquidations were pronounced (-20,8% in three months).
