Created in Singapore in 2018 and launched in France in 2021 by La Maison du Whiskey, ecoSPIRITS is the first eco-responsible spirits distribution technology. This bulk spirits sales system has already attracted many players in the catering sector, hotels and wine merchants. In 2024, still supported by La Maison du Whiskey on the French market, ecoSPIRITS wants to accelerate its development.
The ecoSPIRITS* system helps reduce carbon emissions by ending single-use glass in the spirits industry. Also allowing a competitive reduction in costs by reducing transport and logistics costs, ecoSPIRITS consists of two major elements : ecoTOTE, a glass container designed to be recyclable and reusable, but also the ecoPLANT, a semi-automated spirits processing facility, developed for filling ecoTOTES. With this proposal, La Maison du Whiskey has won over nearly 150 CHR customers located in Paris. In the region, this portfolio was completed by four wholesale partners : Milliet in Île-de-France, West Drinks in the North West, Murgier in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and the Cave à Titoune in Bordeaux. In total, in 2023, 8,737 ecoTOTES were sold, the equivalent of 56,166 bottles of spirits, and there was an increase of almost 70% compared to 2022, in around sixty bars, around forty restaurants, around twenty hotels, as well as in the catering and events sector.
A range of around fifteen spirits
This distribution concept saves up to 86% of CO2 emissions compared to the production of a bottle. Waste linked to packaging (bottles, labels, caps, cardboard and plastic packaging) decrease by 95% ! The year 2023 was marked by the adaptation of ecoSPIRITS technology to make it accessible to all wine merchants and allow individuals to directly benefit from premium spirits in bulk. Nowadays, La Maison du Whiskey has built with partner brands a diversified ecoTOTE range of around fifteen spirits : French gin Citadelle, three references of Plantation rum, FAIR organic and fair trade vodka, Christian Drouin’s calvados, Nusbaumer French elderberry liqueur and FAIR triple sec kumquat fair trade liqueur, l'amer Select Aperitif, Armorik French and organic whiskey and Compass Box blended scotch, la Abelha organic cachaça, corn also amaretto and white amaretto Adriatico. New products and limited editions will also be presented throughout the year to offer a unique experience in the cellar..
ecoSPIRITS projects in 2024
Nominated for the V d’or 2024, the Vinexposium Business Awards, in the Best New Business Solution category, ecoSPIRITS plans to continue deploying its project, particularly among end consumers. The ecoSPIRITS retail program aims to intensify the implementation of its bulk solution with partner wine merchants throughout France. In parallel, La Maison du Whiskey wishes to increase its coverage of the territory via new wholesale partners in the region and thus accelerate the conversion of bars, restaurants and hotels to this more responsible and economical solution.
