A new convention aimed at combating illegal work in construction has just been signed by the State, the parquet floors, at CGSS, the construction leave fund, social partners, consular chambers, order givers and professionals associated with the sector. It is a continuation of previous conventions and runs until 2025. Particular attention will be paid, over the period, to site inspections of individual houses, the effective carrying of the professional construction card and the provision of international services. The controls of the latter, few in Reunion, make it possible to verify compliance with the rights of seconded workers and to protect the profession against fraud which creates social dumping. Over the period 2018-2021, 596 interventions regarding illegal work were carried out on the island in the construction sector, i.e. 36% of the total number of interventions. In 2020 and 2021, years marked by the health crisis, controls targeted the use of partial activity. 20 criminal proceedings were initiated for fraud, half concerning construction companies. For example, a company was fined for having improperly received aid amounting to 40,000 euros between April and July 2020., for 18 employees. All of the criminal proceedings made it possible to recover 120,000 euros in voluntary regularization from construction companies.
