Rear port area : 17 hectares for the Grand Port

Operation of the rear port area, file blocked for a long time due to the lack of a common vision of the communities, reached a new milestone on April 30.

That day, Cyrille Melchior, president of the Departmental Council, owner of the ZAP land, and Éric Legrigeois, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion, signed an administrative long lease for a period of seventy-five years, covering three plots with a total area of ​​17,5 hectares. These will be released in three phases, in 2024, 2026 et 2028. The first phase of development of an area of ​​6 hectares of port land will soon be launched. This signing took place in particular in the presence of the prefect, from the regional president, of the President of the Western Territory, from the mayor of the Port, departmental elected officials from the district and members of the supervisory board of the Grand Maritime Port, to better mark the importance of the moment. The ZAP extends over nearly 70 hectares, which will gradually be allocated to economic actors whose activities require proximity to the commercial port facilities.
