The permanent commission of the regional council, which was held on April 22, recorded the decision not to follow up on the procedure for implementing the projects initially selected during a call for expressions of interest organized at the end of the previous mandate. Only the project carried by Piroi (Indian Ocean regional intervention platform of the French Red Cross) could materialize in this area, because it “corresponds to a project of general interest”. “The development of the Pierre-Lagourgue airport activity zone must be fully consistent with the new directions of economic development of the territory”, estimates the Region, who wishes to respect the original vocation of the area : the development of export-related activities.
