Towards a takeover of Run Market by Caillé

The Competition Authority will study the proposed takeover of Make Distribution from February 2, which operates the Run Market brand, by the Caillé group.

Until this date, stakeholders have the opportunity to make their observations known. Several weeks will still be necessary before the authority makes its opinion known. The Caillé group and Make Distribution had communicated together, January 16, to announce a “strategic rapprochement” project. But it is in the “takeover” category that this file is classified by the Competition Authority, which even speaks of an “exclusive takeover”. As we go to press, no information was given by the interested parties on the distribution of the capital of the future entity, even if it seems certain that the Caillé group will be in the majority. IBL and the Adrien Bellier Company currently share the shares in Make Distribution, the Mauritian group being the main shareholder. The new entity would bring together the four Intermarché partner Run Market hypermarkets and the 49 stores under the Leader Price brand of Caillé Grande Distribution. For now, nothing has filtered out regarding the future of these brands (maintenance of Run Market, continuation of the partnership with Intermarché ?).
