The budget of the University of Reunion Island for 2023 was voted on December 12, during the last board meeting of the year. It amounts to 161,6 million euros in revenue and 156,7 million in expenses, i.e. a surplus budget balance of 4,9 millions. It will enable the implementation of the establishment’s priorities. : success in undergraduate studies and student and campus life, 2nd cycle of health studies, scientific supervision of research units, new phase of reorganization of the general administration, deployment of the ecological transition program and securing cash flow. In the second half of 2022, the university faced a delicate financial situation, due to a “scissors” effect between the receipts of European subsidies, below forecast, and additional costs linked to inflation. The alert was triggered and the cash shortage was avoided. The establishment was able to start paying its suppliers again, of which 550 had been put on hold.
