Air Austral and Madagascar Airlines concluded a codes sharing agreement in June (codeshare) and a tariff agreement, which relaunch their commercial cooperation, After several years of difficult relationships.
Thanks to this agreement, Madagascar Airlines customers can now reserve, under MD flight number, routes operated by Air Austral between Reunion and several Malagasy destinations – Antananarivo, Ancient (Diégo-surez), Nosy Be, Toamasina (Fat) –, and vice versa. In addition, they benefit from simplified access, via Reunion, long-haul routes offered by Air Austral, such as Bangkok and Johannesburg. On his side, Air Austral accesses the entire domestic network of Madagascar Airlines thanks to the tariff agreement, thus offering its customers a more complete coverage of the Malagasy territory, with easy connections. The two partners are also setting up a Réunion–Toamasina–Sainte-Marie Island link. : the Air Austral Reunion-Toamasina flight offers a Toamasina–Sainte-Marie connection operated by Madagascar Airlines.
