Consumer prices remained stable in Reunion in August, after an increase of 1,1% in July, according to INSEE. Prices of services have fallen, while they have increased since the start of the year, those of food also fell, for the first time in a year.
Prices of manufactured products remained stable, unlike energy prices which increased by 4,9% on the month. Over a year, Reunionese inflation stands at 2,4 %, half as much as for the whole of France (4,9 %). Food prices, which accounts for 15% of the budget of Reunion household, however increased by 8,2 %. The rise in energy prices was contained to 1,8 %, the significant drop in the prices of petroleum products (-9,3 %) partly offsetting the increase in electricity prices.
