In 2022 in Reunion, only 31% of adults who have completed their initial training have followed at least one training course in the last twelve months compared to 47% in France, according to an INSEE study.
Reunion Islanders aged 35 to 44 are those who train the most (49% compared to 57% in France), while young adults train much less than in the rest of the country (36% versus 57%). Only 13% of non-graduates in Reunion train each year compared to 59% of holders of a diploma above the baccalaureate. Likewise, employed people train more (44 %) that the unemployed (26 %) or the inactive (11 %), with higher recourse for executives and intermediate professions, public sector employees and those of large companies. The lesser use of training in Reunion Island is partly explained by a lower level of diploma, a higher unemployment rate and fewer large companies. However, with identical characteristics, Reunion Islanders access training less often than the rest of the French population. They more often express difficulties accessing training and resort less to distance training.
