This is what the latest annual survey by the Crédit Moderne Observatory suggests, carried out in September 2023 among 1,600 households in Reunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana (400 people interviewed per department).

With a rating of 5,3 – the best in four years – the morale of the Reunion Islanders is indeed, compared to previous years, a “rebound”, which would reflect a certain confidence in the future. In comparison, nationally, the rating is 4,9. However, the study confirms the feeling of Reunion Islanders about a drop in their purchasing power due to inflation. Saving intentions are stable. Like in 2023, 24% of Reunion Islanders want to increase their level of savings. Concerning purchasing intentions, Travel and leisure are still in the lead with 43% of Reunion Islanders declaring their intention to devote part of their budget to this sector.. The investigation by the Crédit Moderne Observatory looked this year at the relationship of Reunion Islanders to the latter. : 73% attach very great importance to the quality of their housing. The kitchen is the most important room for 58% of those surveyed, in front of the living room and bedroom. The most important elements are the quality of the insulation (78 %) and the quality of household appliances (78 %) in front of the quality of the furniture (73 %).
