Consumer prices increased by 0,4 % in February in Reunion, according to INSEE. The increase concerns all sectors of consumption, with the exception of manufactured products. Energy prices are rising sharply (+5 %) due to the 15% increase in electricity prices. Prices for petroleum products are also increasing (+0,4 %). After falling sharply in January (-1,8 %), prices for services also increase by 0,4 %). Conversely, transport rates drop for the second consecutive month : -12 % (dont -13,5% for air transport) after -9,6% in January. Food prices continue to rise (+0,8 %), after +0,9% in January and +1% in December 2022. It is driven by the increase in food prices excluding fresh produce. (+0,7 %) which constitutes the bulk of the food consumption basket. Prices of fresh produce also continue to rise (+1,4 %). Prices of manufactured goods decrease by 1,2 % ; due to sales, the prices of clothing and shoes are falling significantly (-4,6 %). Prices of other manufactured products fall to a lesser extent (-0,5 %), those of health products are almost stable. Finally, tobacco prices increased by 0,6% on the month. Over a year, prices increase by 4,2% in Reunion, which is significantly less than in France (+6,3 %).
