At the start of the year, Reunion Island Tourism had early announced the excellent figures for 2023 tourist attendance : 556,089 external visitors, up 12% compared to 2022 and even exceeding by 4,2% the 2019 record.
The Regional Tourism Observatory confirmed these good results on March 18. Revenues jumped 14,7 %, reaching 478 million euros. The hexagonal market (445,208 tourists) progresses by 8,6% compared to 2022 and alone represents 80% of arrivals.
Far behind (12,2% you total) travelers come from the Indian Ocean basin : mainly from Mayotte (34,608 arrivals), from Mauritius (23 022) and Madagascar (5 349). Approval customers (48,1% you total) has exceeded affinity customers (the one who comes above all to visit relatives and friends, 43,2 %). Business customers, for their part, represented 6,3% of foreign tourists last year.
