The Grand Maritime Port of Reunion Island handled more than 6,09 million tonnes of goods in 2025, figure up 4% compared to 2024.

Port Réunion breaks the record recorded in 2021 (6,026 million tonnes), which had been a year of catch-up after the temporary cessation of economic activity in 2020 due to the health crisis. Like previous years, containerized traffic represented the main activity of the port in 2025 (more than 60% of global traffic). 370,433 twenty-foot equivalent containers (EVP) were treated, i.e. a slight drop in number (-2 %), but more loaded containers increase the tonnage balance (+2 %). Transshipment traffic is down slightly (-6 %) but remains at a high level, reflecting the role of Port Réunion as a hub for the Indian Ocean zone. Energy products, with almost a million tonnes, constitute the first bulk traffic in volume. They increased by 24%, driven by the importation of pellets for electricity production plants (+40 %). Liquid bulk goods are down 7% overall.. Diesel imports fell by 11% and kerosene entries by 6%.,6 %, while unleaded gasoline has increased by 4,1 %. The 75% drop in bulk sugar exports explains the decline in solid bulk (-6 %), other traffic is increasing : +5% for cereals, +13% for cement, +4% for clinker. Conventional traffic is increasing sharply (+84 %), but represents less than 1%, in tonnage, traffic in Port Réunion. The downward trend in vehicle imports continued last year (-2 %) with 27,561 units. 34 stopovers by liners carrying nearly 44,000 passengers (+1 %) were finally recorded over the year.
