On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, the second private health player in Reunion, specialized in psychiatry and functional rehabilitation, changes its name to affirm its local roots and what sets it apart in its therapeutic approach.

In terms of quality of care and comfort in patient accommodation, the group Les Flamboyants sets the bar very high, with specialized psychiatric units for minors aged 12 and over, young adults, adults and the elderly, with specialized rehabilitation tools and cutting-edge technical platforms. Its establishments have the High Quality of Care certification, issued by the High Authority of Health. Also the group can no longer just allow itself to display its achievements in broad daylight (what he does regularly in order to inform the public), but to openly mark its difference from the French private medical system prey to financialization (in France, 40% of private clinics are today under the control of four groups). Founded in 1995 by doctors Gérard and Marie-Andrée d’Abbadie, psychiatrist and child psychiatrist, the Reunion group has always turned its back on this logic. Major player in mental health, today he oversees three psychiatric clinics (The Flamboyants West, South and East), two rehabilitation clinics (The West and South Tamarinds) and the Uhaju clinic (“flamboyant” in Shimaoré), in Mayotte. It includes an industrial laundry, Tour, which puts its expertise at the service of other health establishments and the hotel industry. The group has just opened, at the port, the Carambole health center, reserved for private specialists with a view to comprehensive and coordinated care of patients before and after hospitalization. In total, it employs 950 employees, generates nearly 600 indirect jobs and cares for more than 4,000 patients per year.

A participatory approach
Under the leadership of its president, Philippe d'Abbadie, and its general director, Aude d’Abbadie Savalli, In 2025, the family group undertook a consolidation process aimed at giving it greater coherence and a better asserted identity.. This participatory approach began with the “30th anniversary workshops”, which brought together collaborators and user representatives. It continued with an online survey and in-depth interviews with stakeholders (liberal professionals, institutional partners). It closed with a seminar which gave birth to a 2025-2030 action plan around five orientations : strengthen the group's positioning in its specialties ; improve the efficiency and readability of care ; develop collaboration with the liberal sector ; further affirm the group’s roots in Reunion ; ensure the autonomy in skills of Reunion Island by promoting the attractiveness of the territory and the group to recruit, if necessary outside.
Restore confidence
Behind the pun, the new name, RunéSens, concentrates the essential. “It’s a name that speaks of care, of humanity and the future, which evokes the other idea of health that we carry, which reflects our daily commitment”, explains Aude d’Abbadie Savalli. The “é” in the shape of a smiley is not the least important : in addition to its link function, it expresses therapeutic positivity, at the foundation of the group. In psychiatry and rehabilitation, restore the patient’s confidence in themselves and their abilities : that is the key word.
