The launch of the 2021-2027 programming of European funds was announced on April 7 at the Palais de la Source, seat of the Departmental Council. The framework partnership management agreement for Reunion was signed by the prefect of Reunion, Jerome Filippini, the first vice-president of the Regional Council, Patrick Lebreton, the president of the Department, Cyrille Melchior.
This signing also brought together representatives of the European Commission (by videoconference) and the director of the Agency for the Management of Local Initiatives in European Matters (AGILE), Philippe Clain. The European Funds Monitoring Committee's mission is to examine the progress of European programs for proper management of allocated funds.. “It is a great pleasure and a particular honor for me to co-chair this first multi-fund Monitoring Committee dedicated to the new generation of European programs”, declared the President of the Department at the opening of this plenary session devoted to the management of European funds. The Department is the managing authority for the EAFRD program (260 million euros for the period 2023-2027), slightly increased compared to the previous period 2014-2020. Nine priority objectives have been selected, including improving the competitiveness of agricultural operations and preserving natural resources and biodiversity.
Six priorities retained by the regional community
The Réunion region is, as for her, the managing authority of the ERDF and part of the ESF+. With an endowment of 1,409 billion euros, including 265 million euros for economic actors and businesses, the Reunion FEDER-FSE+ program is the largest in France. “It will make it possible to support Reunion Island in a more united and sustainable economic development model.. Six priorities were retained by the regional community, including support for innovation, sustainable mobility, the adaptation of health and education infrastructures or even the decarbonization of the economy”, announced Patrick Lebreton.
