Work to connect the RN1 to the new Littoral road (NRL), as well as the construction of the final interchange at the entrance to La Possession, will start in the last quarter of 2025.
The temporary flyover which was built to facilitate north-west traffic without crossing the town center of La Possession will be removed as part of this project., to enable the construction of the final interchange. The latter will allow both joining the RN1 towards Saint-Paul or Saint-Denis and directly serving the town center of La Possession from departmental road 41, known as the Mountain Road. The end of the work, with a total cost of 59 million euros, is announced for August 2027. The construction of the viaduct between La Grande Chaloupe and La Possession, final phase of the never-ending NRL project, should start on this date.
