Green honey 2023 took place from October 6 to 15 at the Plaine des Cafres. On this occasion, Sicalait, the Reunion dairy cooperative, traditionally invites Reunion Islanders to discover or rediscover péi milk and to exchange with breeders from the cooperative. The program of activities was particularly rich this year.

In partnership with the town hall of Le Tampon and the Culinary Academy of the Indian Ocean and Overseas Territories, Sicalait participated in the Réunion culinary festival orchestrated by Jean-Charles Nagou, manager of Saveurs de la Fournaise and vice-world champion of jam makers in 2021. The cooperative and Cilam provided the milk, the crème fraîche and péi milk cheeses used in the various events organized for the public during Miel Vert : adult and junior pancake competition and world record for the longest galette des rois (50 m de long !). The two local industrialists, Cilam and Sorélait, organized tastings of their flagship products throughout the event. Miel Vert thus highlighted the Piton des Neiges yogurt brands, Danone and Oïkos made partly with Reunion milk. Popular with each edition of Miel Vert, the store selling dairy products directly to consumers was making a comeback with a wider range of products to take away or to eat on site than in the past. In addition to a wide range of péi cheeses made from local milk, the people of Reunion were able to leave with yogurts, bottles of liquid yogurt, or with a milkshake. Péi milk was on sale at the price of two euros per liter, Sicalait supplying the bottles this year.

Great success of Sicalait since the edition of the Bras-Panon 2022 fair, the cooperative offered Reunion Islanders the opportunity to enjoy péi ice cream made from the milk of Hauts breeders by the artisan ice cream maker L’Île en Glace. Big news this year, while this ice cream was vanilla in Bras-Panon, the péi ice cream of the 2023 edition was made with honey : honey from the Reunion cooperative Coopémiel de Bourbon. Finally, for milk day, Saturday January 14, Sicalait was once again in the spotlight during a milk jam competition and Indian cooking activities around milk and péi cream by Patrick Firoaguier, the Reunion chef of the Paradis line, specialist in vegetarian Indian cuisine. Finally, Sicalait obviously provided the milk used for the world record for rice pudding., Sunday January 15, last day of Miel Vert.
