The turnover of the 4,125 TPE and Reunionese SMEs studied by the SAGIS Institute as part of the Image SME survey, with the order of accountants, dropped 0,6 % in the 1st quarter of 2025 compared to the 1st quarter 2024.
This figure is not corrected for inflation, which progressed by 1,4 % on the island in one year. Small businesses in the industrial sector record a 1% decline (-0,4% for those in the manufacturing industry). In construction, the decline in turnover is accentuated, at -7,2 %. In transportation and warehousing, the decline is less steep (-1,9 %) than in the previous quarter. Small businesses in the commercial sector are also seeing their turnover decline (of 0,6 %) in one year. The service sector seems, on the other hand, get better. Its overall turnover increased by 2,8 % in one year, after increasing by 2,2% in the previous quarter. However, a notable exception should be noted in this category. : small accommodation and catering businesses record a drop of 2,8 %, after -4,2% in the previous quarter.
