one daycret adopted December 24, 2020 aims to regulate the general system of the “anti-food waste” label » implemented by the law of February 10, 2020 relating to the fight against waste and the circular economy.
With the anti-waste law for a circular economy, the fight against food waste is strengthened and virtuous initiatives promoted thanks to the creation of a national “anti-food waste” label. This label created by law no. 2020-105 of February 10, 2020 relating to the fight against waste and the circular economy (AGEC) allows the promotion of virtuous initiatives and aims to support the ambitious objectives defined by law. It provides in particular for the validation of benchmarks integrating control plans by ministerial decree, or the designation of certification bodies by the Minister of Ecological Transition.
The 2025 deadline
The food distribution and collective catering sectors (supermarkets, canteens…) will have to reduce food waste by 50% by 2025 compared to the 2015 level. It is therefore for these sectors that the first technical standards will be developed from 2021, specifying the requirements to benefit from the label and the conditions of validation and control. This system will help guide consumer choices and create a virtuous dynamic for the companies concerned..
