Reunion Island player in hygiene products, DOULUX takes a new step in its environmental commitment with the DOULUX ZERO PLASTIC range. This local innovation offers rolls of paper towels and toilet paper wrapped in recyclable paper, replacing classic plastic film. A simple gesture, but meaningful : reduce our dependence on plastic and encourage more responsible consumption on our island.
LOCAL MANUFACTURING, A GLOBAL AWARENESS
Located in Reunion, Doulux manufactures its products on site, thus supporting local employment, short circuits and the promotion of Reunion know-how. If paper packaging still has to be imported – due to lack of a suitable local sector – this reasoned choice is part of a process of progress : act today to limit the use of plastic. The company also invested in a third photovoltaic plant. With an annual production of 1,4 GWh, Doulux supplies the equivalent of the electricity consumption of 500 Reunion households. This is more than the consumption of its own production site, which therefore operates using 100% renewable energy. Doulux products are thus manufactured under the sun of Reunion Island, with energy from the sun — local and ecological pride.

Why choose paper over plastic ?
Plastic remains one of the main pollutants of our soil and oceans. Conversely, the paper is :

- consistent with the challenges of Reunion, where reducing plastic waste is a major challenge.

A committed actor alongside Green Réunion and CITEO
Doulux is a member of Green Réunion, association which brings together local businesses engaged in the ecological transition. The company also contributes to the CITEO tax, which finances the collection and recycling of packaging in France, within the framework of Extended Producer Responsibility (REP).
By this contribution, Doulux actively participates in the development of a more virtuous circular economy.
