The aperitif actor announces the launch of a peanut sector in France. The first 100% French peanuts will be harvested this year and marketed at the beginning of 2026.

With more than thirty-five years of know-how around peanuts, the Menguy’s brand will cultivate and promote these seeds. Sown in spring in Poitou-Charentes, French peanuts were harvested in October, period which now marks the new tricolor peanut season. Cultivated on around ten hectares by five partner farmers, members of the Océalia agricultural cooperative, they will then be worked in the Menguy’s workshops, in Mazamet, in the Tarn. In a market preempted by the largest multinationals, the French Menguy’s acts as an exception and affirms its tricolor commitment by launching an integrated sector. A major agronomic and economic challenge for Menguy’s : the company wants to develop the sector by 2030, by reaching more than 2,000 tonnes produced with around a hundred partner farmers. Menguy’s opens this new chapter in the continuity of the work carried out for more than twenty-five years with Ferme Darrigade (Landes), peanut producer from Soustons and precursor of culture in France.
A different culture
Produced mainly in the Americas, peanuts adapt to France. She finds land there, a different climate and cultivation methods which represent so many challenges, but which are the promise of new flavors for the French. “The launch of this sector is not a coincidence. Menguy’s is a key player in the aperitif market in France, and an expert on the peanut. Today we are writing a new chapter in our history to support food sovereignty and offer a local offering on the shelves., always in a good mood and at the service of gourmet moments”, declares Guillaume Lamy, director general of Menguy's.
Salted roasted peanut to start
To launch its French sector, Menguy’s is banking on its flagship product : salted roasted peanut. A must-have aperitif, revisited with peanuts grown in France, with a different taste. The recipe highlights the aromatic richness of peanuts to rediscover a classic with a local touch.. Eventually, once the sector has reached maturity in terms of volumes and production, Menguy’s will be able to expand its range of products based on French peanuts – notably its peanut butter, become one of the brand's best-selling products since its launch in 2019.
