The Chamber of Notaries of Reunion and Mayotte officially launched its mediation center at the end of 2023.
This service aims to save time and money for all parties, in situations that can be resolved amicably. The mediation center is chaired by Me Sylvie Pons-Servel. Its creation marks an important step in the commitment of the chamber of notaries to alternative conflict resolution. Practicing in the field of family law, real estate law, and business law, everyone can now call on one of the seven notary mediators. The latter have been trained for one hundred hours and are registered in a mediation register. They intervene to facilitate the search for a negotiated solution putting an end to a dispute. In the meeting, their training was co-financed by the Banque des Territoires and the Chamber of Notaries. “The mediator, devoid of decision-making power, acts as an impartial facilitator. Its mission is to hear the parties in conflict, to compare their points of view during interviews, thus promoting the restoration of communication and the search for an agreement consistent with their respective interests, specifies the chamber of notaries. Mediation is based on the common desire of the parties to reach a resolution. Those involved freely agree to participate in the process and can terminate it at any time. 70% of mediation cases reach a positive outcome. »
