Hervé Mariton was elected president of the Overseas Business Federation on May 26 (I can), for five years. He was briefly Minister of Overseas Territories in 2007., in the last weeks of Jacques Chirac's second term.
He succeeds Jean-Pierre Philibert, who held this position since 2011.
One of his first speeches focused on the need to quickly open the overseas borders and the lifting of the septaine obligation for people traveling between the Overseas Territories and mainland France..
