Sunday, restaurant payment solution, publishes the results of a YouGov survey on consumer attitudes towards their restaurant experience. Particularly their behavior when adding…
Among the things the French don't appreciate when they go out to dinner, almost a quarter (22 %) cite the moment of waiting to have, then to pay the bill. Many of them also do not appreciate having to wait before being seated at their table. (22% also). Are the French generous with waiters? ? At the end of a meal in a restaurant only 15% always leave a tip for the staff while almost one in three (30 %) rarely do it and 18% never give it. Behavior that customers explain, either because they never have cash on them (36 %), either because they don't know if it is possible to tip with a credit card (12%). One in 10 believe servers are paid enough and 7% are not comfortable doing so.
Waiting for the bill : an often negative customer experience
This attitude could also be explained because on average, one in two customers waits between 5 and 10 minutes to receive the bill at the restaurant (49 %) and one in ten estimates they wait more than 10 minutes. More than one in three French people (36 %) starts complaining about waiting for the bill after 10 minutes. But let us be reassured, half of customers are more patient and wait more than 10 minutes before requesting it again. Besides the tip, waiting for the bill can have an impact on the meal process. Nearly seven in ten French people say that this wait is likely to make them skip dessert for fear of being late for their next appointment. A behavior that, in fine, has an impact on the average basket of guests and the turnover of restaurateurs.
The Sunday payment solution
Started by the founder of the Big Mamma restaurant group, Victor Lugger, the start-up Sunday offers payments via QR code at restaurants. “As a restaurateur myself, I wanted to participate in the design of a product that would make our daily lives and that of our customers easier. Sunday turns the painful fifteen minutes of paying at a restaurant into a quick experience, simple, less than 10 seconds. Whether it’s offering the customer 10 more minutes to enjoy their dessert, help guests quickly split the bill or make it easier to tip, the customer experience is at the heart of Sunday” rejoices Victor Lugger.
SUNDAY ACCELERATES TABLE ROTATION
Sunday announces over 1,100,000 users since its launch in April 2021. The payment solution would generate 40% more tips for staff and 12% more shopping cart spend for restaurateurs, as well as 10% faster table rotation.
Survey conducted by YouGov on a sample of 1,036 French people over 18 years old. The survey was carried out online between December 15 and 16, 2021.
