Over a year, between July 2024 and July 2025, consumer prices increased by 1,9% in Reunion, more than at the national level (+1 %).
The consumer price index measured by INSEE rebounded in July (+0,6 %), after a decline of 0,3 % in June. On the month, prices for services increased by 1,3 %, mainly due to the increase in prices of transport services (+20 %), following the seasonal increase and higher than the previous year in air transport prices. Down for five months, energy prices started to rise again in July (+1,7 %), in connection with the increase in the prices of petroleum products (+2,9 %). On the other hand, food prices continued to fall (-0,2 %), but less than in June (-1 %). Prices of fresh produce fall for the third consecutive month (-2,6 %), after the strong increases in March and April following Cyclone Garance. Vice versa, the prices of food products excluding fresh produce are on the rise again (+0,3% after stability in June). The prices of manufactured products, for their part, fell by 0,4 %. Prices of clothing and shoes are increasing (+0,3 %), while those of health products fell to 0,2 %), just like the prices of other manufactured products (-0,4 %). Finally, tobacco prices continue their inexorable rise (+0,5% in July).
