Presented on November 17 at the Saint-Denis university technology park by the Institute of Research for Development, the SeqCOI project (Carbon sequestration in Indian Ocean island territories) offers a decision-making tool allowing concrete action to be taken to reduce greenhouse gases, through the identification and valorization of carbon sinks. Implemented in the territories of Reunion, of Rodrigues Island and a rural commune in the Itasy region of Madagascar, the tool is in the form of a greenhouse gas balance calculator allowing you to evaluate the emissions and storage of the latter, from agriculture, forestry and other land uses. Accessible for free online, SecCOI is based on the provision of scientific research data, from the literature or direct measurements in the project territories. The major product expected in the short term is the development of maps expressing the supply and demand for carbon sequestration in the territories..
