An innovation in ecoconstruction

Reunion shows construction initiative. We give two other examples in this first part of our investigation into innovation in construction. EM2R is at the origin of a concept of qualitative development of modulars from containers at the end of life, who could find many applications for housing or for uses of professional premises. A first furnished tourism project, Le gayatri, was born in Sainte-Suzanne.

Johl Narayanin, founder of the company EM2R.

It is in his search for sustainable construction methods freed from the whole-Bouton that Joël Narayanin, founder of the company EM2R, studied this solution, laying the basics of a modular habitat offer and a unique constructive system in Reunion. Installed in Saint-Pierre, its "last trip" maritime container processing unit (expression designating containers at the end of life) The recycles and gives them a new vocation by carrying out all the work of adaptation and factory development. These are units ready for use that are transported to the site of the site to be established. Hence a very fast construction time. Container recycling is not a novelty in itself, But this approach gives it an unrivaled qualitative dimension, As shown in its first application, The Gayatri tourist furnished tourist operation, equivalent to a three-star, which consists of around forty bungalows in Sainte-Suzanne. Bocage, Gayatri aims to meet the needs of tourist accommodation in micro -regional. "The word Gayatri means" invocation to the sun "in Sanskrit. It was chosen because it illustrates this region of our island, cradle of the Indian community ", explains Joël Narayanin, which defines the operation as "an alternative to construction and a concrete response to the needs of housing". "The following slogan : “Ideas arise from recycling”, perfectly animates this constructive system. What was doomed to be waste and be destroyed is therefore continuing its life cycle and therefore honoring the virtuous cycle that we all advocate. »»

An autonomous and intelligent building

The Gayatri operation takes into account the technical and climatic necessities of the region. Modulars are installed on studs with foundations accordingly, as well as with a fixing mode able to respond to winds of more than 300 km/h. The interest of this elevation, Beyond the permeability of the soil, is to create a crawl space that disconnects the floor of the land in place and to take advantage of this natural ventilation from below. An inclined metal frame supports the roof that, herself, will support photovoltaic panels to ensure energy autonomy. This inclination will collect rainwater by gutters which will be stored for useful purposes. At the same time, This roof offers additional protection of the already thermally isolated modular. The cladding with recycled materials in turn helps to prevent external heat withdrawing inside the habitat. Mounted on a profile in Omega style, It creates an interstice providing a peripheral air blade. The terrace is also made with recycled materials. Gayatri's energy performance is greater than the requirements of the Perene frame of reference for the thermal design of buildings in Reunion and RTAADOM*. "All of these elements and parameters are an autonomous and intelligent building. Since then, Sustainable development is a reality ”, Makes Joël Narayanin.
