An escape game on chemical risk prevention

The inter-company prevention and occupational health service Intermétra and the Caillé group launched the first escape game on the island dedicated to occupational health on November 7.

Chemical risks are extremely widespread in many sectors of activity. Their mention immediately brings to mind the industrial sector, and yet many other professional activities are concerned. In France, one in three employees would be exposed to at least one chemical product, and one in ten would be due to a carcinogenic chemical. Faced with this observation, in its search for innovative solutions in terms of health and safety at work, Intermétra contacted Tricky, escape room design company Santé, and obtained exclusivity for the deployment of this new service offering in Reunion Island. Intermétra will soon deploy three other Escape games on musculoskeletal disorders, road risks and psychosocial risks. These four risks (with chemical risks) are part of the priority areas of the regional occupational health plan of Reunion Island.

Raise awareness through play
L’escape game Prevention of chemical risks, first of its kind to be imported to the island, marks the beginning of a mobilization to help companies control the risks of exposure to chemicals. The latter are little or not sufficiently aware and, above all, poorly equipped to assess and prevent this risk which is part of the employee's daily environment.. The challenge is therefore to raise awareness among managers and employees through the game, to then initiate dialogue on prevention actions within work groups. “Escape games offer an interactive way to approach workplace safety scenarios, which allows employees to better understand safety procedures. They simulate realistic situations, strengthen skills, create awareness and enable effective monitoring. Companies that adopt this method demonstrate a reduction in accidents and a strengthened safety culture”, explains Marc Nexhip, general director of Intermétra.

A learning tool
“Guarantee a safe and secure working environment for each of our employees, it is a responsibility that we take very seriously within the Caillé group and which requires a proactive approach, adaptive and innovative. Preventing occupational risks is not simply a matter of regulatory compliance, but an approach integrated into our corporate culture. This is why we sought to push the limits of traditional training by exploring innovative methods to train and raise awareness among our employees.. The escape game is much more than entertainment, it has become a captivating and effective learning tool. We seized the opportunity to introduce this immersive approach into our training programs in the prevention of occupational risks.”, declares Nathalie Mareux, human resources director of the Caillé group.
