Small streams make the big rivers : This is what the abundant news of sustainable development in Reunion seems to confirm. We are spoiled for choice to present some of the most significant and diverse examples of the moment.. Starting with the private security company Réunion Air Sûreté, very first Reunion company to receive the Engagé RSE label (Corporate Social Responsibility) of AFNOR. Recognition of the values held internally by the leading local company in airport and port security.

The Engagé RSE Label is the French reference label for evaluating the CSR approaches of companies, associations, territories, based on ISO 26000 (social responsibility). Applying a proactive policy in terms of human resources management and development, Air Safety Meeting (RAS) is the first Reunion company to be awarded this CSR label. An internationally recognized standard, which crowns the commitments made by the company in terms of sustainable development in the field of security. Having identified sustainable development objectives that correspond to the company's values, Réunion Air Sûreté has been part of this labeling process for several years. “Access to health, gender equality, the preservation of resources or even access to long-term jobs for our employees, are priorities within our society. We were already certified AFNOR 9001 Quality-Safety-Environment, 14001 et 45001. The CSR label is a logical continuation to which we attach great importance” explains Jean-François Moutoussamy, RAS manager, subsidiary of the Réunion Air Assistance group.
Twenty-two years of existence
“Thanks to a strong social policy, we have always put people at the heart of our objectives through the values of respect, of trust and a win-win relationship” continues Jean-François Moutoussamy. “We are convinced that supporting economic activity and guaranteeing the well-being of our employees while ensuring the future, is entirely compatible and forms a virtuous circle”. With 22 years of existence, Réunion Air Sûreté has built a leading position in the sector. It currently occupies 80% of the port and aviation security market share., with a daily presence at Roland-Garros airport, Pierrefonds airport as on the port precinct. RAS is notably the only overseas operator to have had dog technical teams specialized in the detection of explosives since 2004.. From five employees initially, Réunion Air Sûreté has become the 17th largest employer on the island and now has more than 430 trained and operational staff in Réunion alone..

Territorial and societal anchoring
RAS has been engaged for several years in a quality labeling and certification process.. Its subsidiary Réunion Home Training (RAF), which opened a first training center in 2009, then a branch in the south last year and sees more than 1,200 apprentices each year, itself has the Qualiopi quality label. “We are working to have the quality of our know-how recognized. CSR certification is recognition of this commitment for our company, our employees and the future generations that we are training” adds Yohan Ravet, head of the RAF training center. Labeling is also a way of establishing the territorial anchoring of the company which participates in various actions with the associative fabric. “We want to be present and support actions on our island, like the fight against cancer, support for the Red Cross or support for sporting activities, among other examples” underlines Jean-François Moutoussamy. Actions disconnected from simple profit which testify to a state of mind cultivated by the leaders of Réunion Air Sûreté.
