The meeting welcomed 556,534 outdoor visitors in 2024, According to a first assessment presented in early February by La Réunion Tourisme Reunion Island (IRT).
This is a new record for the destination (455 more arrivals than in 2023, Date of the previous record). Tourist recipes are slightly dropped with 468,8 million euros (-1,9 % compared to 2023) and the length of stay is stable, around 18 days. Approval customers (267,663 tourists) represents 49 % of arrivals, in front of the affinity customers (43 %) and business customers (6 %). Merchant accommodation represents 56 % of total accommodation and classified hotel industry was the main accommodation mode of 99,000 tourists. Plus of 4 in 5 tourists were metropolitan residents, 5,8 % came from other European countries (Germany, Belgium and Swiss mainly), 11,6 % of the Indian Ocean. L'Irt, which also measures the tourist practices of Reunionese, on the other hand, a marked drop in tourist expenses of the latter (465 million euros) and a decline of 15 % of their stays on site (at least one night spent outside the home).
