The European Commission has given the green light, July 16, a global grant of 67 million euros intended to co-finance development projects at Roland-Garros airport. The latter is currently implementing, despite the crisis, an investment program of 113 million euros intended to increase its capacity by 2,5 to 3,5 million passengers. The construction of a second terminal, connected to the current building and dedicated to arriving passengers, must begin before the end of the year. It was designed according to bioclimatic principles, by prioritizing natural ventilation over electric air conditioning. An element that counted in obtaining support from Europe :
“This green and sustainable investment is (…) a clear example of the assistance provided by the European Union in the field of infrastructure meeting the objectives of the Green Deal and improving connectivity in the most remote regions of the Union”, believes the Commission.
