Reunion Islanders from mainland France are significantly more qualified

Around 23,000 young people aged 25 to 34 were born in Reunion, have completed their studies, and live elsewhere in France, mainly in mainland France. They are significantly more qualified than young natives who remained on the island or returned, according to the same INSEE study. Only 10% have no diploma and 45% have higher education qualifications, i.e. a situation close to that of all young people of this age residing in France.
otherwise, young people aged 25 to 34 living in Reunion but not born there are significantly more educated than natives : in 2017, 48% of them have a higher education diploma compared to 26% of the natives who live on the island.
