Four days, four emblematic places for cyber training in Reunion : from October 21 to 24, the Expernet du Port and Epitech computer schools in Saint-André, the digital school of the CCI Réunion in Saint-Denis and the IUT of La Réunion in Saint-Pierre composed the route of the first Cyber Tour as part of the European cybersecurity month. A unifying meeting called to renew and develop.

By bringing together the cyber month initiatives of the four main IT training establishments on the island under a common banner, the Cyber Tour 2025 contributes to structuring the local cyber sector. In view of the full rooms, he confirmed that Reunion was “a vigorous territory” in this area. “The objective was also to show the capacity of the ecosystem to play collectively”, explains Matthieu Druilhe, Director of Cyber Meeting, Réunion THD cybersecurity center, who played a supporting role here. The results are rather positive, in terms of audience and mobilization of students and professionals in the sector. According to the training, cybersecurity takes the form of modules within general courses or a complete specialization. By mobilizing youth, the system highlights the skills of today and those of tomorrow which will guarantee the digital security of the territory. By expanding the audience beyond each establishment, the first Cyber Tour creates a common showcase that promotes and strengthens the attractiveness of cybersecurity professions.

People at the heart of cybersecurity

Eric Fleurié, network and system administrator of the MDSI group, gave the measure of the phenomenon from the first stage. In 2014, 1,364 incidents were recorded in Reunion alone. In France, while phishing (phishing) is the main attack (82 %), 55% of employees are still not trained in cybersecurity rules. In addition, 50% of employees would not dare report incidents for fear of being sanctioned by their management. With training, the reduction in the number of incidents is estimated between 50 and 70% ! Cybersecurity in business, feedback, workshops on digital security and cyberattacks and even the fight against disinformation with the intervention of Viginum, the state service responsible for protection against foreign digital interference : the program of the first Cyber Tour showed the importance of addressing cybersecurity in its professional and technical aspects, but also to broaden its scope to adjacent themes.

The future of the Cyber Tour

One year after its launch, Cyber Réunion conducted a reputation survey among 350 local businesses. Among the VSEs surveyed (less than 20 employees), Only 2 out of 10 are aware of the existence of the incident response center initiated by Anssi and the Réunion Region ; 4 out of 10 among companies with more than 20 employees. On the other hand, 7 out of 10 companies agree on the usefulness of a local response center. During the SecNumEco seminar, which was held at the CCI Réunion at the end of October, the following question was asked to companies : “Are you ready for the new economic and technological war ? » How to intensify the cybersecurity message, how to extend it to protection against espionage, etc. : these are all themes that would make it possible to open the Cyber Tour to broader expertise and awareness. “This is a reflection that we are carrying out between partners”, confides Matthieu Druilhe, with the ambition “to impose Reunion on the map of leading territories in cybersecurity”.
